Tejasvi Surya was born on November 16, 1990, in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. He was raised in a political family, with his grandfather being a Janata Party leader.

He completed his schooling from Sri Kumaran Children's Home and later studied law at Bangalore Institute of Legal Studies. He also holds a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Tejasvi Surya joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) during his college days and became an active member of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of the BJP.
