Rishabh Rajendra Pant was born on October 4, 1997, in Roorkee, Uttarakhand, India. He moved to Delhi at 12 to train under Tarak Sinha at the Sonnet Cricket Academy, setting the stage for his cricket career.
Pant debuted for Delhi in the 2015-16 Ranji Trophy. In the 2016-17 season, he scored a triple century against Maharashtra and the fastest century in Ranji history, off 48 balls against Jharkhand.
Pant played in the 2016 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup, scoring a century against Namibia, which highlighted his potential as a young cricketer.
Pant debuted in the IPL with the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in 2016. In the 2018 season, he scored 684 runs, becoming the second-highest run-scorer.
Pant made his Test debut on August 18, 2018, against England, his ODI debut on October 21, 2018, against West Indies, and his T20I debut on February 1, 2017, against England.
Pant scored his maiden Test century against England in September 2018. He played a key role in India's 2020-21 Test series win in Australia, with a match-winning 89* at the Gabba.
Known for his aggressive batting, Pant holds records for the fastest century by an Indian wicketkeeper in Tests and the most catches by an Indian wicketkeeper in a Test match (11).
