Pradyot Manikya Deb Barma: A Political Journey of Leadership and Indigenous Advocacy
Pradyot Manikya Deb Barma was born on June 6, 1978, into the royal family of Tripura, India. He is the son of Maharaja Kirit Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur and Maharani Bibhu Kumari Devi.
He received his education at prestigious institutions like Mayo College, Ajmer, and St. Stephen's College, Delhi.
Pradyot Manikya entered politics and served as the President of the Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC), representing the Indian National Congress party.
In September 2019, he resigned from his position as the President of TPCC and left the Indian National Congress party, citing differences within the party and issues related to the indigenous communities of Tripura.
Following his resignation from Congress, Pradyot Manikya founded The Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance (TIPRA) Motha, a political party dedicated to addressing the concerns and aspirations of indigenous communities in Tripura.
Pradyot Manikya assumed the leadership of TIPRA Motha and emerged as a key figure in Tripura's political landscape. TIPRA Motha focuses on tribal empowerment, land rights, socio-economic development, and cultural preservation.
Under his leadership, TIPRA Motha achieved remarkable success in the 2023 Tripura Assembly Election.
