He completed his schooling from Don Bosco School, Liluah, and graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from the University of Calcutta.
Babul Supriyo gained fame as a playback singer in the Indian music industry, known for his melodious voice. He has sung numerous songs in various Indian languages, including Hindi, Bengali, and Odia.
Some of his popular songs include "Dil Ne Dil Ko Pukara" from the movie "Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai" and "Chanda Chamke" from the movie "Fanaa."
Babul Supriyo joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2014 and started his political career.
He was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) from the Asansol constituency in West Bengal in the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
Babul Supriyo served as a Union Minister of State for Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises from May 2019 to July 2021 in the Government of India.
In September 2021, Babul Supriyo announced his resignation from the BJP and his decision to join the Trinamool Congress (TMC), citing differences with the party leadership.
After joining the Trinamool Congress, Babul Supriyo was appointed as a Minister in the West Bengal Government in November 2021. He was given charge of the Ministry of Forests, Environment, and Climate Change.
Babul Supriyo's move from the BJP to the TMC and his subsequent appointment as a minister in the West Bengal Government marked a significant political transition in his career, reflecting changing dynamics in West Bengal politics.
