Baba Harbhajan Singh is believed to be a guardian spirit of soldiers patrolling the inhospitable terrain of the India-China border in Sikkim. Many soldiers and locals claim to have seen him patrolling the area, even after his death.

He met his demise in 1968 under mysterious circumstances near the Nathula Pass. It's said that he slipped and drowned in a glacier stream, but his body was discovered several days later. His spirit is believed to continue patrolling the area.

Astonishingly, Harbhajan Singh was posthumously promoted to the rank of Honorary Captain by the Indian Army. Even today, his pay and rations are sent to his family, and a room is kept reserved for him in the regiment he served.
