Vkusno & Tochka” Replaces McDonald’s In Russia

Three months after the US deprived the Russians of McDonald's in wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Kremlin has now launched its own version of the global fast-food chain called "Vkusno & Tochka". The name means "Tasty and that's it" in Russian language. When this copycat restaurant opened in Moscow this week, Russians could be seen queuing up in long lines to sample the food, being sold on the lines of McDonald's. But the thing that was missed, at the same time, was the Big Mac! The new restaurant in Moscow was opened at the same location, the Pushkinskaya Square, where McDonald's opened its first restaurant way back in January 31, 1990. A total of 15 such restaurants reopened across

on Sunday but sans the golden arches as well. Alexander Nikolaevich Govor, the Russian billionaire, is the licensee of McDonald's in the country and also the man behind the newly branded eateries. He plans to open 200 more branches by the end of June 2022. By the end of this summer season, however, Govor is keen to open the rest of the branches as well. In a press release, Govor announced, "If you recall, in May, McDonald's announced they were removing their businesses from Russia. I am very proud that they chose me to continue developing this business. That means the company views me as someone who fully shares all the principles of business and values of McDonald's. I won't hide the fact that I am an ambitious man, and so I am not just going to simply open up all 850 restaurants but I am going to develop new ones as well." In a heartening development, the new company has also decided to retain 62,000 of McDonald's former employees. And going by the opening day performance, it seems the Russians have really missed their daily dose of American fast-food. Photos-Social Media
