Union Budget sans vision and priority to common people
Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar has described the general budget presented by the Central Government as disappointing. The Chief Minister said that there is lack of foresight in this. Budget priorities are changed every year, which are not being fulfilled due to lack of focus and funds. Bihar has been disappointed with this budget and once again the demand for special status has been ignored. The dream of inclusive development is not possible without taking forward states like Bihar. The Chief Minister said that in the Union Budget (2023-24), the Bihar government had demanded a special package of Rs 20,000 crore for the state in the Union Budget (2023-24) meeting of finance ministers, which has not been given in the budget. No blueprint is visible in the budget regarding employment generation for the youth. The financial condition of the states has been ignored. No exemption has been given in the loan limit of the state government for the year 2023-24. The Government of Bihar in its memorandum had urged to keep it up to 4 percent which would be beneficial in the development of backward states and in the creation of new employment. The Chief Minister said that the Government of India has determined seven priorities (Saptarishi) in the Union Budget. This scheme is just a re-packaging of the already running schemes of the Central Government. The Bihar government has been successfully implementing new schemes since 2015 under seven resolutions, so the idea of seven priorities in the general budget is not a new thing. Overall, there is no provision for Bihar in the budget and there does not seem to be any benefit in the economic development of the state.
