Ranji Trophy 2024-25: Ajinkya Rahane called back to bat after returning to the pavilion; know the reason
In the Ranji Trophy 2024-25, Mumbai cricket team captain Ajinkya Rahane was called back to bat after returning to the pavilion in the match against the Jammu and Kashmir cricket team.
The big thing is that after Rahane returned to the pavilion, Shardul Thakur came to the crease to bat, but due to the intervention of the third umpire, Rahane had to be called back and sent back after about 5 minutes. Let's know the whole matter.
In fact, in the 25th over of Mumbai's second innings, Jammu and Kashmir cricket team fast bowler Umar Nazir surprised Rahane with a short ball and the ball hit his bat and went into the wicketkeeper's gloves. After this, Rahane quickly returned to the pavilion and the next batsman Shardul came on the field.
However, about 5 minutes later, when the third umpire declared the ball was a no-ball, the on-field umpires called Rahane back to bat. The on-field umpires told Shardul that after the catch, they had asked Rahane to stay on the field till the no-ball investigation was done, but he did not listen. Here, due to a technical fault, the investigation of the no-ball was delayed as the replay was not loaded.
However, even after being called to bat again, Rahane could not do anything amazing and in the very next over, captain Paras Dogra got caught. He could score only 16 runs.
According to BCCI rules, if the umpire is convinced that the batsman leaves the wicket in the misunderstanding of being out despite being given out, then he should intervene. The intervening umpire will signal a dead ball to prevent the fielding team from taking any further action and call the batsman back. The batsman can be called back by the umpire at any time before the next ball is bowled.
