President Droupadi Murmu Honors Indian Olympic Contingent at Rashtrapati Bhavan
President Draupadi Murmu on Wednesday met the Indian Olympic contingent and congratulated the players for their performance in the recently concluded Paris Games. Sharing a photo of the meeting in a post on 'X', Rashtrapati Bhavan wrote, " President Droupadi Murmu met the Indian Contingent of the Paris Olympics 2024 at Ganatantra Mandap, Rashtrapati Bhavan."
Apart from the Indian athletes, Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Indian Olympic Association President PT Usha were also present at the event. Addressing the players, Murmu said that they are a source of inspiration for all the youth of the country, especially the young players.

The Indian team has returned home after winning 6 medals including one silver and five bronze in the Paris Olympics. 117 athletes from India participated in the Olympics held in Paris, the capital of France from 26 July to 11 August.
Among the athletes who met the President was shooter Manu Bhaker, who became the first Indian female athlete to win 2 medals in the same Olympics. She won bronze medals in the 10m air pistol and 10m air pistol mixed team events. Manu was supported by Sarabjot Singh in the mixed team event.
Veteran hockey goalkeeper PR Sreejesh, captain Harmanpreet Singh and several members of the bronze medal-winning men's hockey team also attended the event. Wrestler Aman Sehrawat, who won a bronze medal in the men's 57kg freestyle category in his very first Olympics, was a part of the event.
Apart from these, shooter Swapnil Kusale (bronze in 50m rifle three position), shuttler Lakshya Sen and weightlifter Mirabai Chanu were also present. India finished 71st in the medal tally of the Paris Olympics with 6 medals.
