PR Sreejesh and Manu Bhaker Chosen as Flag Bearers for India at Paris Olympics 2024
While the Paris Olympics 2024 started with the opening ceremony on 26 July, the closing ceremony will be held on 11 August. In the closing ceremony, the flag bearer for India will be hockey team goalkeeper PR Sreejesh and 2 bronze medals winner in shooting Manu Bhaker.
The Indian Olympic Association has informed the names of the flag bearer for India in the closing ceremony Earlier, in the opening ceremony, while PV Sindhu played the role of the female flag bearer for India, Sharath Kamal took over the responsibility of the male flag bearer.
Indian Olympic Association President PT Usha, while announcing the names of both the athletes, said in her statement that Sreejesh was very emotional when he was selected as the flag bearer. Chef-de-Mission Gagan Narang and the Indian team will also accompany him in the closing ceremony.
Sreejesh has contributed to the Indian hockey team for 2 decades. PT Usha had earlier talked to Neeraj Chopra, who won the silver medal in javelin throw, for the male flag bearer, but he requested to give this responsibility to Sreejesh.
India has so far managed to win 5 medals in the Paris Olympics, out of which Manu Bhaker played an important role in 2 medals. While Manu won bronze in the 10-meter air pistol event, she won the second bronze medal in the 10-meter mixed pistol event.
Talking about PR Sreejesh, he played a very important role as a goalkeeper in the Paris Olympics, due to which the Indian team was able to defeat a strong team like Australia.
