Nitish Kumar Inspects Pataliputra Sports Complex, Underscores Bihar's Rising Sports Ambitions

Patna: In a surprise move this evening, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar conducted an inspection of the Pataliputra Sports Complex, signaling the state's growing commitment to sports development.

Accompanied by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Kumar, Secretary Kumar Ravi, Director General of Bihar State Sports Authority Ravindran Shankaran, Patna District Magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh, and Director of Sports Mahendra Kumar, the Chief Minister took a comprehensive tour of the complex, including the indoor stadium, outdoor stadium, and the Khelo India Center of Excellence.

The Director General provided a detailed overview of the complex's facilities and operations to the Chief Minister. Kumar interacted with athletes, particularly weightlifters, who were undergoing training, offering words of encouragement.

It's worth noting that the Chief Minister is slated to inaugurate 'Mashal,' the world's largest sports talent hunt, at the Pataliputra Sports Complex on December 9. This initiative aims to identify sporting talent among government school students. Additionally, Bihar is set to host the Khelo India Youth Games in April 2025, marking the first time the state will be organizing this prestigious event. To ensure the successful hosting of these events, both the Rajgir and Pataliputra Sports Complexes are undergoing significant upgrades.

Kumar's inspection today was aimed at overseeing these preparations and ensuring that the venues are equipped to host national and international-level competitions. He issued specific instructions to officials to ensure the smooth conduct of these events.

This unannounced visit underscores the Bihar government's dedication to fostering a sports culture in the state. By investing in sports infrastructure and organizing major sporting events, the government aims to not only provide opportunities for young athletes but also put Bihar on the national and international sports map.
