Morne Morkel Emerges as Potential Bowling Coach for Team India

Gautam Gambhir will be the new coach of Team India, but the supporting staff is yet to be announced. Meanwhile, a new name is emerging in the race to become the new bowling coach of Team India, whose palms are also associated with the Pakistan cricket team. Former South African fast bowler Morne Morkel is in the race to become India's bowling coach. This former African fast bowler has good coaching experience. He is in the eyes of Gautam Gambhir, the new head coach of the Indian team.

Let us tell you that Morne Morkel was the coach of the Pakistan team during the ODI World Cup held in India last year, but he resigned a few months before his contract with the Pakistan Cricket Board expired. It is believed that Gambhir has requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India to consider Morne Morkel for the post of bowling coach, who has played 86 Tests, 117 ODIs and 44 T20 matches between 2006 and 2018. According to the report, there has been some discussion on this issue with the South African player, who has now settled in Australia.

Gambhir and Morne Morkel have also worked together in the IPL. The two have had a good relationship in the Lucknow Super Giants IPL team, where Gambhir worked as a mentor for two years. After Gambhir joined Kolkata Knight Riders and head coach Andy Flower moved to Royal Challengers Bangalore, Morne Morkel joined the same team under new head coach Justin Langer. Morne Morkel has played a great role as a coach in both international and IPL arenas.

After retiring in 2018 at the age of 39, Morne Morkel is well aware of the new techniques of the game and stays updated with them. Several names have come up for the bowling coach position, including Lakshmipathy Balaji and Vinay Kumar. The report also states that the BCCI is considering Zaheer Khan for the post. Although a final decision is yet to be taken, it seems that the BCCI may reach a conclusion soon.
