How Serious is Virat Kohli’s Knee Injury? Will He Play the Second ODI? Big Update Arrives!

An update has come on the fitness of star batsman Virat Kohli, who could not play in the first ODI against England due to a knee injury. Indian team's young batsman and vice-captain Shubman Gill has given an update on Kohli's knee problem. He said that this star batsman is not in any serious problem and he will be available to play in the second match to be held in Cuttack on Sunday. Virat Kohli had swelling in his right knee before the first ODI.

This swelling of Kohli had caused concerns to the team management and fans that India has to travel to Dubai for the Champions Trophy soon. From the Indian team's point of view, Kohli is a very important player for this tournament.

Gill, who played an important role in India's four-wicket win by scoring 87 runs in the first ODI in Nagpur, told Disney Hotstar, 'His (Kohli) injury is not serious. He practiced well on Wednesday but there was some swelling in his knee on Thursday morning. He will return in the second ODI.'

This top-order batsman said that he was not playing with a century in mind in the first ODI. He said, 'No, I was not thinking about my century. I was focusing on the fielding arrangement and playing my shots accordingly. I was trying to dominate the bowler.'

Gill has been opening the innings in ODIs but he said that he has no problem batting at number three in the series against England. He said, 'I bat at number three in Tests, so I did not have to adjust much. Batting at number three is very challenging because you have to play according to the situation of the game.'

Gill said, 'If the team has lost wickets early, then you have to bat carefully. If the team has got a good start, then you have to take it forward. I play according to the situation of the match.'
