The next match of the Indian cricket team in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is against New Zealand. This match will be played on the upcoming 2nd March. Earlier, news came that Indian captain Rohit Sharma will not play in this match, Shubman Gill will be seen captaining the team in his place. According to the Indian Express report, Rohit did not practice even during Wednesday's practice session. It is being told that Rohit's injury is not that serious, but he can still be rested for the New Zealand match.

India does not have any backup opener batsmen in this tournament. Earlier Yashasvi Jaiswal was in the team, but at the last moment, spinner Varun Chakraborty was included in the team in his place.

If Rohit does not play the next match, then Rishabh Pant or Washington Sundar can be included in his place. There are reports that both the left-handed batsmen have spent a lot of time in the nets before the match.
