Bihar CM Nitish Kumar to Inaugurate Women's Asian Champions Trophy 2024; India Announces 18-Player Squad Led by Captain Salima Tete
Bihar is poised to host the prestigious Women's Asian Champions Trophy 2024. This international field hockey tournament is scheduled from November 11th to 20th, in Rajgir. This tournament is a celebration of the spirit of sportsmanship and the prowess of women athletes across Asia.
The Women's Asian Champions Trophy 2024 will be inaugurated by the Honourable Chief Minister of Bihar Shri. Nitish Kumar on November 11th at 6:30 pm, marking the commencement of this prestigious event.
India has unveiled its 18-player squad for the tournament, with Salima Tete appointed as the team captain and Vice-Captain Navneet Kaur.

The Women’s Asian Champions Trophy is an international hockey tournament that features top 6 teams from Asia. The tournament was established in 2010 and is organized by the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) in collaboration with the respective National Hockey Federations of the host country. It is held biennially, with the participating teams competing for the title of the best Women's field hockey team in Asia.
India hosted both the Men & Women Asian Champions Trophy 2023 in Chennai & Ranchi respectively.
India has a remarkable history with the Women's Asian Champions Trophy, having secured the title most recently in 2023 in Ranchi. With this victory, India joined the ranks of Japan as a two-time champion, further solidifying its position as a formidable force in Asian hockey.
In Bihar, to ensure seamless mobility and safety, BSRTC Volvo buses will be provided to all six participating teams, accompanied by two security escorts each. A Liaison Officer, along with two Lady Sub Inspectors as Personal Security Officers (PSOs), will be assigned to each team. For teams China, South Korea, and Japan, dedicated translators will facilitate communication.
Upon arrival at Gaya and Patna airports, each team will receive a warm welcome from the cultural committee led by the Department of Art, Culture and Youth. Teams will then be escorted to The Buddha Resort and Hyatt Place situated in Bodh Gaya.
