Bihar Chief Minister Felicitates Indian Women's Hockey Team for Historic Victory at Asian Hockey Champions Trophy 2024

Bihar Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar today felicitated the players of the Indian Women's Hockey Team, the winner of the Bihar Women's Asian Hockey Champions Trophy 2024, including the chief coach, support staff, and those who made their valuable contribution in making this event a success, at an award ceremony organized in the auditorium of Bapu Tower. The Chief Minister gave an honorarium of Rs 10 lakh each to all the players and the chief coach of the winning Indian team and Rs 5 lakh to the supporting staff of the team. Along with this, the officers and colleagues of various departments who made their valuable contribution in making this competition a success were also honored with a certificate. On the Indian team winning the championship, the Chief Minister immediately announced on the same day to honor the entire team including the players of the team with an honorarium. In the felicitation ceremony, the Chief Minister gave an honorarium of Rs. 10 lahks each to the Chief Coach of the Indian Women's Hockey Team, Mr. Harendra Singh, Captain of the Indian Women's Hockey Team, Ms. Salima Tete, Vice Captain of the Indian Women's Hockey Team, Ms. Navneet Kaur, players Ms. Sharmila Devi, Ms. Bichu Devi Kharibam, Ms. Priya Sirohi, Ms. Savita, Ms. Sangeeta Kumari, Ms. Mumtaz Khan, Ms. Udita, Ms. Vaishnavi Vithal Phalke, Ms. Lalremsiami, Ms. Baljeet Kaur, Ms. Jyoti, Ms. Sushila Chanu Pukhrambam, Ms. Sunelita Toppo, Ms. Neha, Ms. Preeti Dubey, Ms. Manisha Chauhan, Ms. Ishika Chaudhary, Ms. Beauty Dungdung and Ms. Deepika. Along with this, Ms. Bilwa Suresh Ankita, Mr. Adrian D'Souza, Arthur Lucas, Dave Smolenaars, Ms. Rakhi Vinay Darne, Priya Sirohi, Mr. Edison Elias, Ms. Francis Pushpavati and Mr. Amutha Prakash Perumal were also given an honorarium of Rs 5 lakh in the supporting staff.

In the program, the Chief Minister also honoured the team of Vice Chancellor of Nalanda University, Mr. Abhay Kumar Singh, the Building Construction Department, the Information and Public Relations Department, the Sports Department, Bihar State Sports Authority, Bihar Police Academy, Nalanda District Administration, Gaya District Administration by giving them a letter of appreciation for their excellent work and cooperation in this event. It is worth noting that for the first time in Bihar, the international level competition Bihar Women's Asian Hockey Champions Trophy 2024 was successfully organized in Rajgir from 11 to 20 November. Teams from six countries including China, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia and India participated. India's women's team became the champion by defeating China in the final.

At the beginning of the program, the Chief Minister was welcomed by the Principal Secretary of the General Administration and Sports Department, Dr. B. Rajender by presenting a shawl to the Chief Minister, while Hockey India's General Secretary Mr. Bhola Nath Singh welcomed the Chief Minister by presenting a memento.

In the program, a documentary related to the successful organization of Bihar Women's Asian Hockey Champions Trophy, produced by the Sports Department and Bihar State Sports Authority, was shown.
