A New Revolution in Sports in Bihar: Ready to Host International Sports Events Under CM Nitish Kumar's Leadership
Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar has taken significant steps towards promoting sports in Bihar and providing an international platform to young talents. Under his leadership, the State Government has prioritized improving infrastructure for sports development and hosting international-level events.
To make the Chief Minister's vision come true, the Chief Secretary Shri Amrit Lal Meena held a meeting with top officials of the Sports Department and Bihar State Sports Authority today. The key points of discussion were the preparation for the upcoming sporting events, which Bihar is going to host. The meeting was attended by BSSA Director General Ravindran Shankaran, Director (Sports Department) Mahendra Kumar, Director (IPRD) Vaibhav Srivastava and other top officials.
Bihar will host the World Cup Women's Kabaddi, World Cup Sepak Takraw, Khelo India Youth Games, Under 20 Rugby Sevens Asian Championship and Hero Men's Asia Cup Hockey this year. All the events will be organized in 7 main districts of Bihar - Patna, Nalanda, Gaya, Bhagalpur, Munger, Begusarai, and Darbhanga.
The games will include 19 types of events like table tennis, football, volleyball, athletics, archery, etc. Apart from this, 7 different games will also be organized in Kabaddi, Malkhamb, Kho Kho, and Para sports. More than 8500 players will participate in these games. The games will be organized on different days from January to August, detailed information of which will be provided by the Sports Department from time to time.
Chief Secretary Shri Amrit Lal Meena has urged all the officers to make the upcoming games successful like the Bihar Women's Asian Champions Trophy 2024. He said that these sports events will not only promote sports spirit among the youth of Bihar but will also create a brand of an emerging Bihar. With the successful organization of these games, Bihar will be seen as the leading sports states of India.
