Modi's multifaceted I-Day address

New Delhi: From the ramparts of the iconic Red Fort in Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on the 75th Independence Day. Although Modi's 86-minute long speech had multiple aspects, yet, he touched down on a subject -- Respect to women -- that was never raised by any PM before from the Lal Qila. "What I wish to share is that it hurts me to say that we have witnessed a perversion in our day-to-day speaking, behavior. We have been casually using language and words that are insulting to women. Can we not pledge to get rid of everything in our behavior, culture and everyday life that humiliates and demeans women?," the Prime Minister questioned the people of India. The prime minister averred on the 'respect and support to women's power' which he said was a key for India's progress. Modi said that the women's pride is going to be a huge asset in fulfilling the dreams of the nation. Apart from speaking on women empowerment, the PM's speech also focused on

making India a 'energy-free' country and subsequently set a deadline of 2047 for it. To achieve this goal, PM has launched a "Mission Circular Economy" to replace oil with other forms of energy to make India self-sufficient in energy generation by 2047. The Mission Circular Economy includes electric vehicles, gas-based, ethanol doping in gasoline and making India a hub for hydrogen production. Pertinently, over the past decade, the government's ‘Make in India', ‘Start-up India', ‘Digital India', ‘Atal Innovation Mission', ‘Skill India' and the ‘NIPAM' (National IP Awareness Mission) have certainly helped in spurring innovation in the country. National Hydrogen Mission to make India the largest hub and exporter of green hydrogen. Notably, the Prime Minister had launched the National Hydrogen Mission last year on August 15. The Mission aims to aid the government in meeting its climate targets and making India a green hydrogen hub. This will help in meeting the target of production of 5 million tonnes of Green hydrogen by 2030 and the related development of renewable energy capacity. Hydrogen and Ammonia are envisaged to be the future fuels to replace fossil fuels. Production of these fuels by using power from renewable energy, termed as green hydrogen and green ammonia, is one of the major requirements towards environmentally sustainable energy security of the nation. The Modi Government is taking various measures to facilitate the transition from fossil fuel or fossil fuel based feed stocks to green hydrogen and green ammonia. The implementation of this Policy will provide clean fuel to the common people of the country. This will reduce dependence on fossil fuel and also reduce crude oil imports. The objective also is for our country to emerge as an export Hub for Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia. The policy promotes Renewable Energy (RE) generation as RE will be the basic ingredient in making green hydrogen. This in turn will help in meeting the international commitments for clean energy.
