This can be a big step towards defense exports for the country. The news agency ANI quoted central government sources as saying that India and the Philippines are in the advanced stage of agreement to sell the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile and the export order can be placed soon. Sources said that for the last few months, DRDO and BrahMos Aerospace together have worked hard to export this missile to neighboring friendly countries. This step will strengthen the defense exports of the Government of India as the export order has also been received from the Armenian government. India is likely to get orders for this missile system from some more friendly countries because the agreement with other countries is also at an advanced stage. India and the Philippines signed agreements in March this year for the purchase of BrahMos missiles and other defense equipment. India and Russia have jointly prepared this missile. Hence the name of Brahmos is derived from the rivers of both the countries, Brahmaputra of India and Moskva of Russia.
Can be launched from air, land and under water
The capability of the missile has increased further after increasing its range and adding other modern technology. The BrahMos missile can be launched from air, land, sea and underwater platforms. According to DRDO, the supersonic speed of this weapon during flight along with its powerful warhead enables it to completely eliminate all enemy targets. India successfully test-fired the air version of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile this month. It can fly at a maximum speed of 4,300 kmph. There are many versions of this missile. The surface-to-air supersonic cruise missile can hit targets up to 400 km away. Recently, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh had laid the foundation stone of BrahMos missile manufacturing unit in Lucknow. On this occasion, he had said that we want to make Brahmos so that no country in the world can dare to look at India with an evil eye.
