Bihar Government's ambitious project Jal Jeevan Hariyali Abhiyan was organized in New Delhi on 25.03.2023 in the 20th C.S. Ice. I.G. It is worth mentioning that Jal Jeevan Hariyali Abhiyan was launched by Honorable Chief Minister, Bihar Shri Nitish Kumar on October 02, 2019, whose objective is to reduce the ill effects of climate change and protect the environment. Under this campaign, 11 different components are being implemented across the state, including making public water harvesting structures encroachment-free, renovating them, rooftop rainwater harvesting, intensive tree plantation, promotion of organic agriculture and solar energy. This campaign, conducted in coordination with 15 departments of the state, is being monitored from the level of Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Mission under Rural Development Department and its high-level review is done regularly.

Mr. Rahul Kumar, Mission Director of Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Mission, termed Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Abhiyan being awarded the Award of Excellence in the field of e-governance as an important achievement. He said that even before this, this campaign has received wide appreciation from many forums of the country and the world. Through the portal of the campaign, a unified interface has been made available for the work being done by various departments within the district.

Under the Jal Jeevan Hariyali Abhiyan, about thirty thousand public ponds, puddles, streams, pines and wells have been made encroachment free during the operation period of three and a half years. More than sixty eight thousand public water harvesting structures have been renovated. For the purpose of increasing the level of groundwater, about one and a half lakh soakers have been constructed on the banks of public wells and hand pumps across the state. To increase the green cover of the state, nurseries are being created on a large scale and intensive tree plantation is being done. Solar power plants and rain water harvesting systems are being installed in all government buildings under the state.

It is notable that last year itself Jal Jeevan Hariyali Abhiyan has been extended by the state government till the year 2024-25.
