Indian Army rescues man trapped in snowslide in Kashmir

Indian Army rescued a man trapped in heavy snow at Keran sector in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday evening. The person was pulled out and evacuated to Army Medical facility at Pharkian wherein he was administered immediate lifesaving and stabilising treatment. The force said that at approx 17:00 hours on March 21, 2021, they received a call from residents of Trehgam regarding trapping of Mr Adil Karim Lone in snowslide. Adil, son of Abdul Karim Lone, was trapped in snowslide between Patra and Melyal. The panicked residents requested assistance of Army in locating and rescuing the missing individual. The sentinels of Keran immediately swung into action and an recovery team with rescue equipment was launched. "After moving approximately 1.5 kilometer in heavy snow conditions the team found the individual trapped under snow alongwith his vehicle," the force said. The individual was pulled out and evacuation to Army Medical Facility at Pharkian wherein he was administered immediate lifesaving and stabilizing treatment. Thereafter the individual was evacuated by civil ambulance to government hospital in Kupwara. The timely action by Army, civil authorities and trust reposed by civilians bore fruit as the individual could be rescued and tragedy was averted. The local population expressed their gratitude and the incident served to reinforce the bonds of trust and interdependence between the people and the Army.
