Workshop on Sexual Harassment Prevention Organized at Government Engineering College, Nawada

A one-day workshop was organized at the Government Engineering College, Nawada under the Sexual Harassment Prevention Week at Workplace.

The progress of women is the progress of society. Due to the tireless efforts of the Bihar government, today women are working in every field. But the incidents of sexual harassment of women happening every day make them feel unsafe at the workplace and due to not speaking openly on this, their mental health is affected, which in some way or the other affects both the professional and personal life of women. To prevent such incidents, the 'Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013' was brought. The purpose of this Act is to prevent and resolve incidents of sexual harassment of women at the workplace and to provide a mechanism for redressal of complaints related to such harassment.

Under this Act, a one-day workshop was organized at the Government Engineering College, Nawada on 23.12.2024 under the Sexual Harassment Prevention Week at Workplace. Ms Madhu Kanchan, former President, Inner Wheel Club (International Women's Organization) was present as the chief guest and speaker in this workshop. Addressing the students of Government Engineering College, she discussed with them the prevention and protection against sexual harassment of women at workplace and also made them aware.
