Women Advocates Protest in Patna Against Rising Brutalities, Demand Justice"

Patna: Women advocates in Patna staged a protest demonstration on Tuesday to express their concern over the rising incidents of brutalities against women. The protest was led by Chhaya Mishra, Vice President of the Advocates Association, and was attended by several women lawyers who assembled at the State Bar Council.

Carrying placards, the protesters marched to the Income Tax circle, demanding immediate action against the perpetrators of heinous crimes against women. Specifically, they demanded the arrest of those involved in the murder of a woman doctor on August 9, including the principal of the controversial Kar Hospital in Kolkata.

The protesters also sought action against the criminals charged with the kidnapping and murder of a minor Dalit girl in Paru, Muzaffarpur district, on August 12. This incident has sparked widespread outrage and highlights the need for greater protection for women and marginalized communities.

According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), Bihar reported a 13.4% increase in crimes against women in 2020 compared to the previous year. The state recorded 14,357 cases of crimes against women, including rape, dowry deaths, and domestic violence.

The protesters urged the authorities to take concrete steps to address the rising tide of violence against women and ensure justice for the victims and their families."
