Delhi's Pooja Sharma has been included in the list of 100 influential women. Along with Pooja Sharma, India's Aruna Rai and Vivesh Phogat have made it to this list. This list has been released by BBC. It includes 100 most influential women from around the world. Actress Sharon Stone and Olympic athletes Rebecca Andrade and Alison Felix are also included in it.

Who is Pooja Sharma?

Delhi's Pooja Sharma has founded the NGO Bright the Soul Foundation. This NGO helps people who are marginalized in the society. Sharma has been cremating unclaimed bodies in Delhi for the last several years. So far, Pooja has cremated more than 4000 people.

Born on July 7, 1996, in the national capital, Pooja Sharma hails from a middle-class family. According to media reports, Pooja lost her elder brother on March 12, 2022. He was brutally murdered in front of her eyes due to a small argument. Pooja Sharma performed the last rites by tying a turban on her head as no one came forward to help her. After this, in the last three years, she has cremated thousands of unclaimed bodies in the capital of India.

Puja has faced resistance from priests and her community for performing the last rites of her brother as this role in Hinduism has traditionally been reserved for men. Pooja Sharma, despite opposition, has performed last rites for people of different religions and faiths. She often shares her work on several social media platforms and has around 3.50 lakh followers on Instagram.
