Wayanad Landslides: Four Days After Four People Rescued Alive from Debris
A landslide occurred in Wayanad, Kerala on the morning of 30 July. Four days have passed since the accident, but the process of people coming out alive from the debris is still going on. The Indian Army, which is conducting a rescue operation in Wayanad, has found 4 people alive from the rubble today. These include two women and two men. These people, buried under the debris after the landslide, have been rescued from the Padavetti Kunnu area of Wayanad.
The rescue operation was carried out with great caution to save the four. To do this work precisely, an Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) was landed during the rescue. However, one of the two women rescued in the rescue has a leg injury, for which she has been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Bodies of 195 people found
So far 308 people have died in the accident. However, the rescue workers have found only 195 bodies. The death of the rest of the people has been confirmed by their body parts. That is, some parts of the bodies of 105 people have been recovered, which confirms their death.
40 teams are engaged in rescue
Let us tell you that 40 teams of rescue workers along with the Army, Navy and Air Force are engaged in the rescue of people. To make the rescue operation effective, there is talk of dividing the search area into 6 different parts. The first of these areas is made up of Attamala and Aranmala. The second area is Mundakai, the third area is Punjarimattam, the fourth area is Vellaramala Village Road, the fifth area is GVHSS Vellaramala and the sixth area is the river flow area.
Preparations to bring drone system
The Indian Air Force is going to fly a C-130 aircraft from Hindon Air Base to Wayanad soon. It will take a special drone system as well as a team of experts to Wayanad so that the people trapped under the soil can be monitored. These drone systems will search for people trapped under the soil.
People skilled in swimming in the rescue team
Apart from the Army, Navy and Air Force, a joint team of NDRF, DSG and MEG is engaged in the search operation. Three local people and one forest department employee will also be included in each team. Apart from this, policemen from 8 police stations around the Chaliyar River and people skilled in swimming are also going to search. Apart from this, the search operation is also being conducted through helicopters. Forest department employees along with the Coast Guard and Navy are also going to search those places where there is a possibility of bodies floating.
Taking the help of dogs in the search operation
25 ambulances will be taken to Mundkai through the Bailey bridge built by the Army after the accident. Drone-based radar is coming from Delhi on Saturday to detect the bodies buried in the soil. The help of 6 dogs is also being taken in the search operation. Today 4 more dogs will be brought from Tamil Nadu.
On July 30, the first landslide in Wayanad happened at around 2 am on the morning. After that, a landslide happened again at around 4.10 am. With this, a landslide happened for the third time. In the landslide, 4 villages of Wayanad turned into a pile of rubble, from which rescue operations are being carried out continuously to evacuate people. With the progress of the rescue operation, the death toll is constantly increasing.
