Vishwa Yuvak Kendra Seminar: Celebrating International Day of Persons with Disabilities – Amplifying Leadership for an Inclusive and Sustainable Future
Vishwa Yuvak Kendra organised a Seminar on the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities: Amplifying the Leadership of Persons with Disabilities for an Inclusive and sustainable future.
The seminar was organized on 3rd December 2024 at Its premises. Around 150 participants from NGOs, CSR and sustainability professionals, Government officials, Policymakers, Innovators, Researchers, Medical practitioners and Changemakers participated in the seminar.
The objectives of the seminar were as follows:
●To empower persons with disabilities as change agents.
●To facilitate the collaboration among NGOs, Corporations and concerned departments of government
●To highlight the journey of success stories, professionals with disabilities.
●To provide a platform, creating pathways for the exchange of knowledge, best practices and experiences working with PWD.
Mr. Udayashankar Singh, CEO of Vishwa Yuvak Kendra briefed about the background and objectives of the program. Dr. Ranjit Mehta, CEO and Secretary General PHD CCI Corporate Sector was the Chief Guest. He spoke on the importance of Celebration for awareness regarding the policy for the disabled by the Government and the benefits to disabled persons.
Dr. Anna Mirza from Delhi University conducted the panel session as a Moderator. Four speakers spoke on Empowering persons with disabilities as leaders for inclusive development in India. Panel speakers shared their experiences on different related issues. Dr. Gyanendra Kumar, President, Voluntary Health Association Delhi, spoke on Role of Voluntary Organisations for the development of disable persons. He shared his experiences regarding the. Need of Voluntary Organisations to implement and supplement the service programs and activities at grass root level.
The question-and-answer session was also organized in which participants asked several questions and speakers satisfied their queries.
In the afternoon session, Brain storming cum group activity session was organised. All participants were divided into 8 groups for group work on different issues like -Employment opportunities, how to provide special education and Vocational Training to the needy disabled, Role of the community in the development of the disabled. All groups submitted their reports.
Concluding remarks and way forward were given by Mr. Ajit Kumar Rai, Senior Officer, Sustainability and Development. The seminar ended with the National Anthem.
