Union Minister Prahlad Joshi Advocates for Enhanced Support to Bihar in Food Procurement

Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Shri Prahlad Joshi and Smt. Leshi Singh, Food and Consumer Protection, Bihar met in a joint meeting held on Thursday at Kshetriya Bhawan, New Delhi and drew attention to some important points in the interest of the state. During this meeting, Dr. N. Sarwan Kumar, Secretary, the Food and Consumer Protection Department, Bihar was also present along with Joint Secretary level officials of the Government of India.

During the discussion, consent was given to re-fix the target of paddy procurement of 34 lakh MT set by the Government of India for the upcoming Kharif Marketing Season, 2024-25 to 45 lakh MT on the request of the state.

On the request of the Hon'ble Minister and Departmental Secretary of the Government of Bihar, the Hon'ble Union Minister, Government of India directed the departmental officials to release the pending amount due to various reasons related to the work done by the state under decentralized procurement.

The Hon'ble Union Minister and the officials of the Government of India praised the State of Bihar for being a leader in the country in the work of Aadhaar-based e-POS authentication, end-to-end computerization and transparent distribution of food grains with efficient management of new technology in the last 2-3 years under the supply chain management being done by it.

The Hon'ble Union Minister, Government of India also praised the excellent work done by the State of Bihar across the country for doing e-KYC related to ration cards, canceling duplicate data and Aadhaar seeding in compliance with the instructions of the Government of India.

In the end, Shri Pralhad Joshi, Hon'ble Union Minister, Government of India assured that the necessary help will be given to the state of Bihar. Which Mrs. Leshi Singh, Hon'ble Minister, Government of Bihar expressed her gratitude to Shri Pralhad Joshi and the Government of India for making such an important decision and thanked them while inviting them to visit Bihar.
