Two Newly Elected Independent MLAs from Haryana, Rajesh Joon and Devendra Kadyan, Extend Support to the BJP
A day after the saffron party's landslide victory in the state, two newly elected independent MLAs from Haryana Rajesh Joon and Devendra Kadyan extended support to the BJP on Wednesday (October 9), taking the party's tally to 50. BJP MP Naveen Jindal along with his mother, India's richest woman and independent MLA from Haryana's Hisar constituency Savitri Jindal met Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and BJP MP Biplab Kumar Deb in New Delhi.
Rajesh Joon contested from Bahadurgarh and defeated BJP's Dinesh Kaushik by a margin of 41,999 votes. BJP rebel Devender Kadyan, who contested as an independent from Ganaur, defeated Congress' Kuldeep Sharma by 35,209 votes. Savitri Jindal, mother of BJP MP from Kurukshetra Naveen Jindal, also contested as an independent from Hisar. She defeated Congress' Ramniwas Rara by 18941 votes.
INLD won two seats while JJP and AAP failed to open their account. Earlier today, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini reached Delhi and met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who praised him for leading the party to victory for the third consecutive time. Regarding this, PM Modi posted on X and said, "I met Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and congratulated him on BJP's historic victory in the assembly elections. I am confident that Haryana's role is going to be even more important in the resolve of a developed India."
The Bharatiya Janata Party won a spectacular victory in Haryana, shattering the hopes of the Congress and neutralizing the alleged anti-incumbency wave of 10 years and scoring a 'hat-trick' of power. At the same time, in the assembly elections held for the first time in Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019, the National Conference-Congress alliance won a spectacular victory.
