Train Collision in Tamil Nadu: Mysore-Darbhanga Express Hits Freight Train, Coaches Catch Fire
A train accident took place in Tiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu on Friday late evening. An express train collided with a freight train in Tiruvallur. Two coaches caught fire due to this collision. Train number 12578, Mysore-Darbhanga Bagmati Superfast Express collided with a freight train at 8:50 pm. There is no report of any loss of life in this accident. It is said that three bogies have derailed. This train accident took place in Kavaraipettai. Fire engines have reached the spot. 10 injured have been admitted to the hospital after the accident.
According to news agency PTI, the police say that the fire broke out after the express train collided with another train. Railway Police has said that the express train has collided with a parked train in Kavaraipettai, in which many people are feared to be injured.
However, according to initial information, only a few people have been injured. The freight train has suffered more damage. NDRF and SDRF personnel are being sent to the spot. It is expected that a large number of people from Bihar will be traveling on this train.
Relief and rescue teams from Chennai have left for the spot. According to sources, so far 10 injured people have been admitted to the nearest hospital.
According to sources, two AC compartments of the passenger train have caught fire. Initial information says that there was a signal failure. There is also information about a fire in the parcel van attached to the train engine.
It is said that at around 8.30 pm in Kavaraipettai, the express train hit the goods train from behind. The collision gave a heavy jolt to the train and it went into the loop line. This caused a fire and 5-6 coaches derailed. Rail traffic on both up and downsides has been affected by this accident. According to PTI, when railway officials were contacted to get information about the accident, they did not answer the phone call. Kavaraipettai is located near Chennai.
