The Anti-Rape Bill with Death Penalty Provision Introduces in West Bengal Legislative Assembly
The rape and murder of a doctor at RG Kar Medical College in West Bengal has shocked the entire country. The West Bengal government faced a lot of criticism in this case, after which today Mamata Banerjee's government introduced the Anti-Rape Bill in the Bengal Assembly, under this bill there is a provision to hang the culprit within 10 days. The anti-rape bill introduced by the Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government will be named Aparajita Mahila and Bal (West Bengal Criminal Law Amendment) Bill, 2024. The West Bengal government's anti-rape bill proposes capital punishment or death penalty for rape convicts.
There is a provision for giving the death penalty when the victim dies or faints as a result of the crime.
It also demands life imprisonment without parole for the convicts. The Aparajita Women and Child Bill 2024 proposes to create a safe environment for women and children in the state.
The government led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has called a two-day session of the state assembly from Monday to introduce the bill. The bill was introduced by state Law Minister Moloy Ghatak.
