SUVs Dominate Indian Market: Tata Punch Leads with 61% Growth, Surpassing Hatchbacks in Sales

The dominance of the SUVs segment is increasing rapidly in the country. This can also be gauged from the fact that the cars of this segment have overtaken hatchback cars. When we look at the SUV sales figures from April to July (4 months), only 2 models in the top-10 list faced annual degrowth. The demand for the other 8 models has increased rapidly. Tata Punch, which is at number-1 in this list, has got an annual growth of 61% and Mahindra XUV3XO has got 64%. At the same time, during these 4 months, Punch remained at the number-1 position with 72,466 units.

Talking about sales in the SUV segment from April to July 2024, 72,466 units of Tata Punch were sold. During the same period in 2023, this figure was 45,067 units. That is, it got an annual growth of 61%. During this period, 63,752 units of Hyundai Creta were sold. During this period in 2023, this figure was 57,144 units. That is, it got an annual growth of 12%. During this period, 59,147 units of Maruti Brezza were sold. During this period in 2023, this figure was 52,355 units. That is, it got an annual growth of 13%.

During this period, 53,068 units of Mahindra Scorpio were sold. During this period in 2023, this figure was 38,105 units. That is, it got an annual growth of 39%. During this period, 48,593 units of Tata Nexon were sold. During this period in 2023, this figure was 55,601 units. That is, it got an annual degrowth of 13%.
