Supreme Court Seeks Reply from Muslim Side in Gyanvapi Case Within Two Weeks, Sets Hearing for December 17
On the demand to transfer all the 15 cases going on in the lower court of Varanasi in the Gyanvapi complex case to the High Court, the Supreme Court has issued a notice on the petition of the Hindu side and sought a reply from the Muslim side within 2 weeks. On the petition of the Hindu side demanding an ASI survey of the alleged Shivling, the Supreme Court says that we will hear all the applications related to Gyanvapi together. The court has currently fixed the preliminary hearing on these issues on December 17.
A bench of Justice Suryakant and Justice Ujjal Bhuyan heard the Gyanvapi case. During the hearing, the lawyer of the Hindu side said that some petitions are before the District Judge, while some are before the Civil Judge, in such a situation, different orders are coming from different courts on the same matter. We demand that all the petitions related to Gyanvapi should be clubbed together and transferred to the Allahabad High Court before a bench of three judges.
During the hearing in the Supreme Court, the lawyer of the Muslim side said that the Hindu side wants an ASI survey of the sealed Wazoo Khana area. The district court had rejected this demand, after which the High Court had allowed it. We had filed a petition against this in the Supreme Court. The decision on that petition is still pending.
The bench of Justice Suryakant and Justice Ujjal Bhuyan said, 'The Supreme Court can hear the issues of ASI survey of the sealed area and the admissibility of the case on a weekly or fortnightly basis. The court has currently fixed the preliminary hearing on these issues on December 17.'
