Supreme Court Halts Allahabad High Court's Order on 69 Thousand Assistant Teachers Recruitment in Uttar Pradesh
The case of recruitment of 69 thousand assistant teachers in Uttar Pradesh has taken a new turn. The Supreme Court stayed the order of Allahabad High Court. The court asked the state government and both parties to submit written arguments. CJI Chandrachud said during the hearing that the decision of the High Court will remain suspended for now and the next hearing will be held on September 25. Also, the CJI directed all the concerned parties to submit written arguments.
The CJI directed the government and both the concerned parties to submit written arguments and said that the court would hold the final hearing on this matter. It will examine the legal aspects of this matter and give orders. The court needs time to study the decision of the High Court. In such a situation, the decision of the High Court will remain suspended till then.
The Supreme Court asked both parties to submit their written arguments in a maximum of 7 pages each. The court also appointed 2 nodal advocates for this. At the same time, the UP government was also directed to file a reply on the matter.
It is worth noting that the Allahabad High Court in its decision, to cancel the selection lists for June 2020 and January 2022, had ordered the UP government to issue a new selection list for 69 thousand teachers in three months based on the assistant teacher recruitment examination held in 2019.
The High Court had also said that if a reserved category candidate achieves merit equal to the general category, then his selection should be considered in the general category only. Due to this order of the court, a large number of teachers working in UP were in danger of losing their jobs.
