Six Convicted, Sentenced to Life Imprisonment in the 32-Year-Old Ajmer Blackmail Case
Six accused have been convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment in the Ajmer Blackmail case, the most talked about sex scandal in the country. A fine of Rs 5 lakh has also been imposed. This verdict has been given by the special court of Ajmer.
In this 32-year-old sex scandal, the court has convicted Nafees Chishti, Salim Chishti, Iqbal Bhati, Naseem Syed, Jamir Hussain and Sohil Ghani. There were a total of 18 accused in this sex scandal, out of which nine have already been sentenced. Out of the remaining nine accused, one committed suicide, one is absconding and a separate trial of the accused of rape is going on.
The main accused in this case of gangraping more than a hundred college girls in 1992 and circulating their nude photos was the then District President of Youth Congress, Farooq Chishti.
In 1992, school and college girls were gang-raped. Earlier, the verdict was pronounced against nine accused. The accused were acquitted after serving 10 years of sentence. One accused Almas Maharaj is still absconding. One accused hanged himself after getting bail. Apart from this, a separate case is going on against one accused in 377 case.
The then president of the Youth Congress in Ajmer, Farooq Chishti, his associate Nafees and his henchmen used to target college girls. They used to call girls in the name of parties to farmhouses and restaurants and then gangrape them after giving them intoxicants and then taking their nude pictures. After this, the accused used to blackmail the girls and pressure them to bring other girls with them.
