Setback to BJP before Delhi elections, former MLA and Padma Shri Jitendra Singh Shanti joins AAP
Just before the assembly elections to be held next year in Delhi, the BJP has suffered a major setback. Giving the setback to the BJP, former MLA and social worker Jitendra Singh Shanti joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday. AAP's national convenor Arvind Kejriwal got him the party membership. Shanti has been an MLA from the BJP in the year 2013. Kejriwal welcomed him to the AAP and said that his joining will strengthen the party.
Famous social worker and Padma Shri Jitendra Singh Shanti has set records by performing the last rites of unclaimed bodies, providing ambulances to sick people and donating blood more than 100 times himself. He reached the assembly on a BJP ticket from Shahdara seat in 2013. After Ram Niwas Goyal resigns from AAP, it is almost certain that Shanti will get a ticket from Shahdara.
Arvind Kejriwal has said that the party will get further strengthened with the joining of Jitendra Singh Shanti. Seeing the way he has worked and his social service, people call him ambulance man and by different names. This is a matter of great pride. The former Chief Minister of Delhi said that a person who works for the dead can only be big-hearted because votes are not received from dead people. I have been told that till now he has got more than 70 thousand unclaimed bodies cremated with respect.
During the Corona period, when people were reluctant to take the bodies of their loved ones, Jitendra Singh Shanti played the role of a responsible citizen and social worker. He had got corona at that time and without worrying about the family, he continued his work. That is why he was awarded Padma Shri. Arvind Kejriwal described himself and Jitendra Singh Shanti as disciples of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh. He said that when he comes into the government and the government machinery joins him, his work will get a boost.
