Sandeep Ghosh Moves Supreme Court, Challenges Calcutta High Court's CBI Inquiry Order in Corruption Case
After the incident of rape and murder of a female trainee doctor in Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College, the Mamata Banerjee government passed a bill in the assembly to punish the rapists. On the other hand, the Former Principal of Kolkata's RG Medical College Hospital, Sandeep Ghosh, has been accused of conducting many illegal activities in the hospital. After a long interrogation of Sandeep Ghosh, the CBI has arrested him on charges of corruption.
Now after the arrest, Sandeep Ghosh has reached the Supreme Court. Sandeep Ghosh has filed a petition in the Supreme Court and said that the Calcutta High Court did not listen to his side while ordering a CBI inquiry in the corruption case against him. Sandeep Ghosh had applied to the High Court to make himself a party to this case, which was rejected by the High Court. Apart from this, Sandeep Ghosh has also demanded the removal of the High Court's comments related to linking the corruption allegations with the rape incident in the hospital premises.
The Supreme Court will hear Sandeep Ghosh's petition on September 6. A bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra will hear the matter on Friday.
On the anti-rape bill brought by the West Bengal government, CPI (M) MP and RG Kar victim family's lawyer Vikas Ranjan Bhattacharya has said, "They have the legislative power to make laws, and accordingly, they have brought a bill but it is useless. No agency can complete the investigation within a limited period and then end it in a certain time. These are all populist words. It will not benefit them in any way.”
He said that this is another step to fight against the central government because most likely this bill will not be approved by the President. They will shout against the Centre again, that is why there is nothing else behind introducing this bill. People on the border are completely disappointed and angry against this administration, they have just tried to divert people's attention from the main issue...''
