Samyukt Kisan Morcha Delegation to Meet Rahul Gandhi in Parliament Complex Tomorrow

A 12-member delegation of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) is likely to meet Leader of Opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi in the Parliament complex on Tuesday. Sources say that top farmer leader Rakesh Tikait may also be included in this delegation.

According to the source, the delegation of SKM will also include top farmer leaders Darshan Pal, Balbir Singh Rajewal and Joginder Singh Ugrahan. This delegation is expected to meet around 5 pm on Tuesday.

The United Kisan Morcha had sought time from PM Modi and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi to discuss the pending demands since the end of Kisan Andolan 1.0. These demands of farmer leaders include MSP guarantee law and loan waiver of farmers.

Recently, it was announced by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha that farmers are preparing to march towards Delhi against the three new criminal laws. On the occasion of Independence Day on August 15, a tractor march has been announced by farmers across the country. Farmers have been appealed to reach the borders of Delhi including Singhu and Shambhu. It has been decided that along with the tractor march, copies of the new criminal laws will also be burnt.

The Punjab-Haryana High Court in its decision had ordered the opening of the Shambhu border within a week. Its deadline expired on 17 July, but before that, the Haryana government raised the matter in the Supreme Court. On February 13, the farmers of Punjab left for Delhi with about 12 demands including the legal guarantee of MSP. But the Haryana government closed their way at the Shambhu border between Patiala and Ambala. Since then the farmers have been camping at the Shambhu border.
