Samosa Row Escalates: Himachal CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s Snacks Mistakenly Served to Staff, CID Calls It "Anti-Government Act"

There has been a ruckus in Himachal when the samosa brought for Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu was served to his staff. The matter escalated to such an extent that a senior CID officer was even made to inquire about it. The report said that this mistake is an anti-government act. However, no action has been taken against anyone yet.

Later, the Inspector General of CID set up an inquiry under the chairmanship of the Deputy SP of the department. The Deputy SP's investigation revealed that the CID officers served these samosas to themselves. Himachal Pradesh CID Director General Sanjeev Ranjan Ojha said that the Chief Minister had a programme at the CID headquarters on October 21. The Chief Minister had arrived in Shimla to inaugurate the data center of the Cyber Crime Wing.

Refreshments were ordered for the Chief Minister in the programme, but it did not reach the Chief Minister. Regarding the samosa investigation controversy, DG CID said that the interim investigation report going viral is a matter of concern. No notice has been issued against any employee. It is unfortunate to politicize the matter.

He said that after the programme was over, the police officers were sitting to drink tea. During this time, there was a discussion about refreshments. After this, it was asked where is the refreshment that was ordered for the Chief Minister.

The report said that the SI was aware of the breakfast brought for the Chief Minister. The interesting thing is that an officer of the CID department wrote in his comment that all the persons named in the investigation report have worked in an anti-CID and anti-government manner, due to which these things could not be given to the VVIP.

At the same time, the Chief Minister's Principal Media Advisor Naresh Chauhan termed the matter of samosas and cake served to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu as false propaganda. He said that the government did not order any such investigation. The government has nothing to do with this matter. This is an internal matter of the CID department and they are investigating the matter at their level. Everyone knows that the Chief Minister does not eat outside food. In such a situation, this is only a conspiracy to defame the government.

BJP MLA and media department in-charge Randhir Sharma said that the people of Himachal Pradesh are troubled and the funny thing is that the government is worried about the Chief Minister's samosas. It seems that the government is not concerned about any developmental work. It is only concerned about food.

He said that a recent incident related to the samosas brought for Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has given rise to a controversy. The samosas mistakenly reached the Chief Minister's security staff instead of him, which was investigated by the CID. In the investigation, this mistake was termed as an "anti-government" act.

Let us tell you that this mistake happened when three boxes of samosas and cake were ordered from Hotel Radisson Blue located in Lakkar Bazaar for the Chief Minister's visit to the CID headquarters on October 21, but these snacks were served to his security team instead of the CM. An officer of the rank of Deputy SP investigated this mistake.

According to the report, an IG-rank officer directed a sub-inspector (SI) to buy snacks for the CM. The SI then assigned an assistant SI (ASI) and a head constable to bring the snacks from the hotel. They brought the snacks in three sealed boxes and informed the SI about it. Police officials said they consulted the tourism department staff on duty about whether these snacks were for the chief minister. They were told that these items were not part of the menu prepared for him, which further increased the confusion.

The investigation revealed that only the SI knew that these boxes were specifically for CM Sukhu. When these were handed over to the woman inspector, she did not confirm with any senior officer and sent them to the Mechanical Transport (MT) section responsible for the snacks. Due to this mistake, these boxes passed through several hands before reaching their rightful person.

This lack of coordination was a major reason for this mistake, the report said. An official of the CID department expressed concern over the incident in a written note. The note accuses the people named in the investigation report of working against the CID and government interests. This incident has become a topic of discussion in the political circles of Himachal Pradesh. In fact, such coordination problems in a program involving a VVIP like the Chief Minister embarrass the government machinery.
