Retired AIG of Punjab Police Shoots Dead Son-in-Law Over Land Dispute at Chandigarh District Court
A shocking incident has come to light in Chandigarh District Court on Saturday. Reason, here suspended AIG of Punjab Police Malvinder S Sidhu shot dead his son-in-law due to a land dispute. At the time of the incident, both parties had come to the court for a hearing. After this, the police arrested the accused Sidhu and registered a case and started further action. The deceased was an IRS officer and both parties were having a land dispute in Mohali, which is pending in the court.
Chandigarh SSP Kanwardeep Kaur while giving information said, "We received information about firing at the Mediation Center of the District Court at around 2 pm today. Police reached the spot and found that the name of victim is Harpreet Singh he was taken to the hospital, but he died there. The alleged accused was caught on the spot and taken into police custody and a weapon was recovered from him."
The SSP said that the alleged accused is retired AIG of Punjab Police Malvinder Singh. The spot is being investigated by calling the FSL team.
"We are also talking to eyewitnesses. It is being investigated from which gate the alleged accused entered the court.We have recovered a .32 bore pistol from him and we have recovered 4 fired bullets and 3 unused bullets. Divorce proceedings were going on between the two families and today was the fourth meeting in the Mediation Center. Further investigation is being done," She added.
