Railways Enhance Ticketing Experience at 13 Stations in Bihar with New ATVM Installations Amid Festive Rush

Indian Railways has made special preparations to deal with the crowd during the festive season. Many special trains have also been run by the Railways for Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Amidst all this, Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) are being installed at 13 stations in Bihar. Samastipur Railway Division has decided to install ATVMs at 13 additional stations to reduce the crowd at the ticket counter. Through these machines, passengers will be able to take out tickets themselves and avoid the line at the counter. Passengers will also be able to make payments through UPI here.

According to DRM Vinay Srivastava, a proposal to install ATVMs at stations like Laheriyasarai, Sakri, Purnia Court, Dauram Madhepura, Ruseraghat, Hasanpurroad, Salona, Bagaha, Harinagar, Janakpurroad and Jhanjharpur has been sent to the headquarters. On getting approval, machines will be installed at these stations soon. At present, 35 ATVMs are already working at 12 stations, which are being used easily by passengers.

DRM Vinay Srivastava while talking to news agency IANS said, 'There are about 35 ATVM machines installed at twelve places in this division, so that passengers do not need to stand in queue. Passengers can book their tickets from ATVM. 9 assistants have also been appointed at each place, in total, so that if any passenger has any problem operating the ATVM machine, they can help, but this is such a simple facility that any passenger can book tickets himself using the touch screen. Right now it is proposed at 13 more places, and as soon as its approval comes from the headquarters, we will install ATVM machines at 13 more places.'

Will passengers be able to book tickets themselves in this? On this Vinay Srivastava said, 'Absolutely. There is a touch screen on which you enter your destination, from where to where you have to go. If options like mail and express come, then you select accordingly. Whatever you select, it will ask for that much money. Now you can even pay through UPI and after that, the ticket comes to you.' This will help in avoiding the crowd at the general ticket window. However, there is no provision for booking advance tickets right now. DRM Vinay Srivastava said, 'There is also a proposal for more machines so that if there is a crowd at the ticket window, the passengers can book their tickets. There is no provision for booking advance tickets right now, but we are looking into this in the future as well.'
