Rahul Gandhi’s First Reaction: Thanks Voters in J&K, Addresses Concerns Over Haryana Election Results
The results of the Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections were released on Tuesday. In Haryana, the BJP won a majority, dashing the hopes of the Congress. In Jammu and Kashmir, the Congress and NC alliance won. Now, Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has reacted to the election results.
Rahul Gandhi wrote on ‘X’ on Wednesday, “Thank you from the bottom of my heart to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. India's victory in the state is a victory of the Constitution, a victory of democratic self-respect. We are analyzing the unexpected result of Haryana. We will inform the Election Commission about the complaints coming from many assembly constituencies.”
Thanking the people of Haryana, the Congress MP said, “Heartfelt thanks to all the people of Haryana for their support and our Babbar Sher workers for their tireless hard work. We will continue this struggle for rights, social and economic justice, and truth, and will keep raising your voice.”

The BJP as well as the NC-Congress alliance have got a clear majority in the 90-member assembly of Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir respectively. In the first major direct battle between the BJP and the Congress in Haryana, the ruling party BJP won 48 out of 90 seats. Congress had to be content with 37 seats, which is far from the majority.
The National Conference and Congress alliance in Jammu and Kashmir is set to form the government with 48 seats in the 90-member assembly. The National Conference performed brilliantly in the first assembly elections held in 2019 after the abrogation of Article 370 and the division of the then Jammu and Kashmir state into two union territories.
The National Conference contested 51 seats and won 42 of them, while its ally Congress contested 32 seats and won six. The BJP emerged as the second-largest party with 29 seats, improving on its all-time high of 25 in the 2014 elections.
