Rahul Gandhi Faces Criticism for Meeting with ‘Anti-India’ US MP Ilhan Omar

Rahul Gandhi who arrived on a 3-day tour to America, was already on the target of his opponents due to his statements. Now he is again in trouble after meeting the anti-India MP. Rahul Gandhi is facing sharp criticism for meeting American MP Ilhan Omar. Some pictures of Rahul's meeting with Ilhan Omar have surfaced, in which Rahul Gandhi is seen standing with some American MPs. Ilhan Omar is also included in these MPs.

Rahul Gandhi's meeting with ‘anti-India’ MP Ilhan Omar has taken a political turn. BJP, which was earlier aggressive about Rahul's statements, is now leaving no stone unturned to target him over this meeting. This is because Ilhan Omar has given anti-India statements many times. Not only this, she is the same woman who even called PoK as Pakistan.

In fact, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's meeting with US MP Ilhan Omar has created a controversy. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused him of allying with anti-India forces. Gandhi, who went on a visit to the United States, met US MPs at the Rayburn House office building in Washington DC. Ilhan Omar was also among these MPs.

BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi said, “Rahul Gandhi is in the opposition and his signature ways is joining a tour that is against India. This time the matter is serious. He has become the first Leader of the Opposition of India to meet an announced anti-India MP. Ilhan Omar is notorious for speaking against India. Now Rahul has added another feather to his cap with regards to being anti-India.”

Ilhan Omar serves in the US House of Representatives and represents Minnesota's 5th Congressional District, which includes Minneapolis and surrounding suburbs. Taking the oath of office in January 2019, Omar became the first African refugee to join Congress, a woman to represent Minnesota, and one of the first two Muslim women elected to Congress.

BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla accused Ilhan Omar of introducing resolutions in the US Congress critical of India's policies. She had spoken against India's decision to revoke Article 370, which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

Omar visited Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) during an alleged Pakistan-sponsored trip, which the BJP says is a violation of India's sovereignty. She had met former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and others to discuss Islamophobia in India, BJP's Poonawalla said.
