Punjab Vigilance Bureau Arrests Patwari for Accepting Rs 4,000 Bribe

Patwari Akshdeep Singh, who was deployed at revenue halka Doulatpur in the district of Pathankot, was caught on Wednesday by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) as part of its continuing campaign against corruption in the state. Singh was accused of requesting and taking a bribe of Rs 4,000.

An official spokesperson for the state VB made this information public today, stating that the Patwari described above has been taken into custody in response to a complaint that was filed by Jagjeet Singh, a resident of the hamlet of Dhakki in the district of Pathankot.

Furthermore, he told that the complainant had approached the VB and alleged in his complaint that the accused had requested Rs 4,000 for the mutation of his ancestral land. All of this information was provided by him. After conducting an initial investigation into this allegation, a VB team set up a trap, and the accused was caught in the act of collecting a bribe of 4,000 rupees from the person who filed the complaint. This occurred in the presence of two different official witnesses.

Following this, a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been filed against the aforementioned accused at the VB police station in the Amritsar range, according to the spokesperson who provided this information. It was said by him that the accused would be brought before the appropriate court tomorrow, and that more investigation into this matter was now being carried out.
