Punjab Police Nabs Suspect Wanted in VHP Leader Vikas Bagga's Murder Case

Chandigarh/Ludhiana, August 12: In a significant breakthrough, the Punjab Police have arrested a suspect, Mukul Mishra, wanted in the murder case of Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Vikas Bagga, as part of the ongoing drive to make Punjab a safe and secure state, as per the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.

The case is being investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). According to the police, Vikas Bagga, a shopkeeper and VHP leader, was shot dead by two unidentified assailants on April 13 this year. The assailants, who came on a black scooty, were later identified as Mandeep Kumar and Surinder Kumar, and were arrested four months ago.

Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav said that excellent teamwork and scientific investigations, including financial trail and intelligence inputs, led to the arrest of Mukul Mishra, a resident of Uttar Pradesh. Preliminary investigations revealed that Mishra had facilitated the payment for the weapons used in the murder through his bank account.

The police have also identified two more suspects from Uttar Pradesh, including the person who procured the weapons. The arrested accused was also wanted in another case registered under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Arms Act.

Further investigations are underway, and police teams are on the lookout for absconders.
