Punjab Govt Registered Zero FIR Case for Attack on NRI Family in Haryana

Chandigarh, July 30: After the assurance of Punjab NRI Affairs Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, Police have registered Zero FIR (No. 001, dated July 29, 2024) under the BNS-2023 Act regarding the attack on the family of Sukhwinder Kaur and Buta Singh, NRIs from village Chimnewala, District Fazilka. The incident happened in Rohtak, Haryana.

Mr. Dhaliwal met the family and ordered them to register Zero FIR following directions from Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. He assured that the Punjab government will leave no stone unturned in safeguarding the interests of NRI Punjabis.

The Cabinet Minister has written to the Haryana Chief Minister and DGP, seeking early identification and punishment of the culprits. He has also sought an appointment with the Haryana Chief Minister to ensure the safety of Punjabis traveling between Delhi and Punjab.

The incident happened when Buta Singh was going to Delhi Airport to receive her wife Sukhwinder Kaur returning from abroad. Meanwhile, they were attacked by some unidentified miscreants during the way back but they were saved by the alertness and prompt action taken by the cab driver.

The brave driver who saved the family will receive a reward of Rupees one lakh and a bravery award from the Punjab government.
