Punjab CM Unveils Multi-Pronged Strategy to Combat Drug Menace
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann reaffirmed the state government's unwavering commitment to combating the drug problem in the region and claimed that a multifaceted plan has been developed to eradicate the drug problem from the state.
The chief minister announced today that the state government will be implementing a number of changes to the state's policing system while presiding over a meeting with senior Punjab Police officials. He claimed that during the rush for polls, the state police had seized a significant amount of cash and drugs and had obtained several other crucial hints about the drug supply. He also revealed that it had been discovered that lower-level police officers had occasionally collaborated with drug dealers, creating a close relationship between them. According to Bhagwant Singh Mann, the state administration has moved several police officers who have been sitting on their positions for a long time to the lowest echelon of the hierarchy as a first initiative.
In an effort to disrupt this connection, the Chief Minister stated that over 10,000 transfers have already been made between divisions. She also mentioned that the police postings are rotating. According to Bhagwant Singh Mann, the action is intended to stop drug smuggling in the state because he has heard rumors that lower-level officers have ties to drug dealers. He said that the police department's "black sheep" are being found and that harsh measures will be taken against them for their roles in this unforgivable crime.
The Chief Minister threatened to seize, attach, or freeze someone's property within a week if they were discovered to be involved in narcotics smuggling. He claimed that in order to stop the sale of drugs, the cops have been instructed to vigorously enforce this regulation. According to Bhagwant Singh Mann, the state government of Punjab has agreed to add 10,000 more officers to the force in order to increase the force's efficiency.
According to the Chief Minister, it will help reduce crime on the one hand and provide jobs for young people in the near future. He stated that the state government had established the Sadak Surkhya Force, which was functioning effectively, and that Punjab Police was outfitted with the best technology available to uphold law and order in the state. According to Bhagwant Singh Mann, the team has prevented almost 2000 fatal traffic accidents since it was established.
According to the Chief Minister, the officers have been ordered to turn the battle on drugs into a widespread movement for the welfare of the nation. The state government is currently operated on the "Mission" mode, according to Bhagwant Singh Mann, who also stated that the "Commission" mode is no longer in use. In a similar vein, he declared that a thorough plan has been developed to combat gangsters, terrorists, and smugglers who use drones to operate within the state.
The Chief Minister declared that Punjab is leading the country's fight against the drug problem and that no effort will be spared. According to Bhagwant Singh Mann, hardly a single ounce of drugs is produced in the state; instead, they are smuggled in from neighboring states and countries. In addition to saying that SSPs will be held personally responsible for any excessive harassment of the general public in their respective districts, he noted that police officers have been urged to show respect to those who visit police stations for routine tasks.
According to the Chief Minister, police officers have been directed to treat MLAs and other elected officials with the respect they deserve. He declared that there is already a zero tolerance policy against drugs and corruption in the state administration and that every effort will be made to further this admirable goal. According to Bhagwant Singh Mann, the state administration will not spare anyone engaged in these horrible crimes, no matter how wealthy they may be.
The state government, according to the Chief Minister, cannot do nothing while these people sell narcotics and carry out the "genocide" of our future generations. He declared that in order to serve as a warning to others, the state government would not spare these individuals and would take exemplary measures against them.
According to the chief minister, state BJP leader Sunil Jakhar is incredibly irritated that he does not have a say in who gets to govern. He claimed that the former MP is making unfounded accusations against the state government as a result of his displeasure. According to Bhagwant Singh Mann, these leaders just care about their personal self-interests, but as chief minister, he is also concerned with the prosperity of the people and the advancement of the state.
The state's lengthy Model Code of Conduct caused development efforts to stall, which the chief minister lamented. He claimed that because the state government is dedicated to the prosperity of the people and the general advancement of the state, the government has reactivated its operations for the benefit of the populace. According to Bhagwant Singh Mann, the state administration is developing different policies for the welfare of the people based on input from the grassroots level.
