Poisonous Liquor Tragedy Claims Lives in Bihar's Siwan and Saran Districts: CM Orders Strict Investigation
Bihar Chief Minister Mr. Nitish Kumar conducted a high-level review of the poisonous liquor incident that took place yesterday in Siwan and Saran districts.
After the review, the Chief Minister directed the Secretary of the Prohibition, Excise and Registration Department to visit the spot, gather information about the entire situation and conduct a thorough investigation on all points. The Chief Minister directed the entire team of ADG (Prohibition) to visit the spot, conduct a thorough investigation and take strict action against those involved in this incident.
The Chief Minister directed the Director General of Police to keep monitoring the entire incident at his level and ensure strict action against whoever is guilty of this incident.
The Chief Minister appealed to the people of the state and said that people should understand that drinking alcohol is a bad thing. Drinking alcohol not only spoils health but also creates an atmosphere of unrest in the family and society. Complete prohibition is in force in the state. Everyone is following it. Some anti-social elements want to create unrest in society, so people should be cautious of them.
Let us tell you that there was a poisonous liquor incident in Bihar's Siwan and Saran districts on October 16 and 17, 2024, that resulted in multiple deaths and hospitalizations. At least 20 people died after consuming illicit liquor in Siwan, and two people died in Saran.
A special investigation team was formed, two chowkidars were suspended, and legal action was taken against the Bhagwanpur SHO and Prohibition ASI. The liquor was locally brewed and mixed with harmful chemicals. Some say that the deaths are a matter of concern because spurious liquor is still available despite the liquor ban in Bihar.
