PHED’s "Zero Office Day" Campaign Ensures Improved Monitoring of "Har Ghar Nal Ka Jal" Scheme

For continuous monitoring of the "Har Ghar Nal Ka Jal" Nischay, the Public Health Engineering Department is continuously running a "Zero Office Day" campaign under which regional officers are constantly visiting the ground level and checking the actual status of water supply schemes. In this direction, so far this year, the regional officers of the department have inspected more than 24,000 schemes implemented by the department in various areas of the state and have taken necessary action for the smooth functioning of the schemes.

Under the campaign, 24,678 schemes were inspected this year, out of which 24,297 schemes were found to be fully operational. The process of necessary action has also been started to make the schemes which were found closed or unsatisfactory fully functional. The status of home water connection was also reviewed under the campaign. Also, during the inspection, the officers also directly communicated with the beneficiaries for the smooth operation of "Har Ghar Nal Ka Jal" and also listened to their suggestions.

As a result of continuous inspection by the field officers and prompt resolution of problems, the efficiency and transparency of the water supply schemes have improved. The Abhiyan has played an important role in reaching out to the poor families, thereby not only checking the efficiency of the scheme, but also making the beneficiaries aware of the actual status of the scheme. This process has also increased the confidence of the local people. Under this Abhiyan, the officers have ensured that there is no hindrance in the implementation of the water supply scheme. They identify the potential problems in advance and resolve them, which not only saves time, but also the beneficiaries are able to receive quick and quality services.

The functioning of the schemes is also being monitored by the department through the "Pyaajal Mobile App" for continuous monitoring of the water supply schemes. So far, 1,17,000 schemes have been inspected through the Peyaajal Mobile App by the officials of other departments as per the instructions of the concerned district officers.

At the same time, now the contractors are also taking information about the functioning of the schemes from the pump operators under them on a daily basis. For continuous monitoring of water supply schemes, at least 50 pump operators are being contacted daily at the district level. Similarly, through the State Control Room and District Control Room, information about the status of the schemes is being taken by contacting 50-50 pump operators daily. Also, other departments have been given the responsibility of 8-10 schemes at the district level and have been instructed to inspect at least once in every 04-05 days and give an online report of the actual status of the scheme through the drinking water mobile app.

Superintending Engineer, Executive Engineer, Assistant Engineer, Junior Engineer and other regional officers were involved in the Zero Office Day campaign. It is known that under this campaign, the concerned regional officers do not sit in the office on a specially designated day, but go to the ground level and check the actual status of the schemes, the entire campaign is monitored at the headquarters level.
