Patna-Bettiah NH-139W Approved: Bihar's Infrastructure Gets a Boost with ₹8,660 Crore Four-Lane Highway
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, infrastructure development in Bihar is getting a continuous boost. In this episode, the National Highway Authority (NHAI) has approved the construction of Patna-Bettiah National Highway-139W (NH-139W). This much-awaited four-lane project will provide relief to the passengers coming to and from Patna from North Bihar, Seemanchal and Uttar Pradesh. Rs 8660.70 crore will be spent on the construction of this 171.29 km long road
The distance from Patna to Bettiah will be covered in two hours
With the construction of this four-lane road, it will take only two hours to reach Bettiah from Patna. Currently, people take more than five hours to complete this journey. This highway will connect Patna, Saran, Vaishali, Muzaffarpur, East Champaran and West Champaran districts.
Divided into five sectors
The project has been divided into five major sectors, some of which have already started construction, while the tender process is going on for some.
- Bakarpur to Manikpur: 38.814 km, construction work in progress.
- Manikpur to Sahebganj: 44.650 km, approved.
- Sahebganj to Areraj: 38.362 km, tender process in progress.
- Areraj to Bettiah: 40.580 km, tender process in progress.
- Digha-Bakarpur six lane bridge: 4.5 km, approved.
Benefits of the project
- Travel between Patna and Bettiah will take only 3 hours.
- Traffic pressure on JP Setu will be reduced.
- North Bihar and Seemanchal will get an alternative route.
- Industrial and business activities will get a boost.
Connectivity will also be developed
Along with this four-lane, an 18 km long spur connectivity will also be built from Konhua (Darihara) to NH-722, which will also provide better road facilities to the surrounding areas.
Work is going on at a fast pace after approval of NHAI
According to the information, after approval by the National Highway Authority (NHAI), work is going on at a fast pace on this project. The target has been set to complete its construction as soon as possible. Currently, construction work is in progress between Bakarpur to Manikpur. Soon this highway will become the backbone of traffic between North Bihar and Patna
