Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi Orders Judicial Inquiry into Alleged Harassment of military Officer and Fiancée in Bhubaneswar

There is an uproar over the alleged harassment of a military officer and sexual harassment of his fiancée at a police station in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Now the state CM Mohan Charan Majhi has ordered a judicial inquiry into the entire incident. CM Majhi has said that the state government is committed to taking strict action against all persons or officials found guilty in this incident.

According to the order issued by the Odisha Chief Minister's Office, the judicial inquiry into the incident will be headed by Justice Chittaranjan Das and the report will be submitted within 60 days. Along with this, the government has also requested that the Odisha High Court monitor the investigation being conducted by the Crime Branch of Odisha Police.

Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi has emphasized the law and order situation in the state and said that his government respects the Indian Army. The government is concerned about the dignity, safety and rights of women. In this case, former CM Naveen Patnaik demanded a Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigation under the supervision of the court and a judicial inquiry. On the other hand, the opposition party has called for a Bhubaneswar bandh on September 24.

The incident happened on September 15. The army officer posted in West Bengal and his fiancée had reached Bharatpur police station in Bhubaneswar to complain of road rage. However, both of them argued with the policemen at the police station. Later, the army officer and his fiancée accused them of misbehaving at the police station.
